At 1:00 each exploration/study group will give a presentation, highlighting the events of their year with time for questions and answers. Then we will have installation of the board followed by cake and social time.
The Spring Plant Sale, timed to coincide with the El Cerrito city-wide garage sale, is on Saturday, May 19th, 9:00 AM -3:00 PM, 131 Ashbury Ave, El Cerrito. Members of the club work all year to have beautiful plants and unique garden art ready for the sale. We will have drought tolerant perennials, succulents and California natives, Vegetable and annual starts, garden art, tools, gift ideas and other garden related items for sale. Everything we sell has been a success in our gardens and will be in yours too! Knowledgeable, friendly, gardeners staff the sale and enthusiastically answer questions. The whole club participates and it is great fun!
The Plant Sale is just around the corner! We are in the final stages of preparation, making signs, cataloging plants, etc.
-the deadline for submitting requests for signs is Saturday, May 12.
-in order to have a new sign made, you must have 3 (or more) plants of the same kind.
-before you submit a request for a new sign, please check the plant list (signs already available) below.

The 2018 BGC Spring Tea will feature floral designer, Kay Wolff. We will serve a buffet lunch from 12:30 to 1:30 PM with the floral design presentation beginning at 1:30 PM. Paula Shiu Is the Past President of the Orchid Society of California, American Orchid Society Judge Trainee, Accredited Judge for the Cymbidium Society of America. She has been growing orchids in the bay area for over 30 years.
Paula will present a overview of orchid propagation, and a slideshow of orchids suitable for growing in the Bay Area, from collections around the bay.
Roger Kubalek, former Rosarian for the Berkeley Rose Garden, will discuss a year in the rose garden - pruning, fertilizer, planting and maintenance. He will also present the history of the Berkeley Rose Garden.
