Who We Are…

Our Objective

The purpose of the Club shall be to stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening among amateurs; to aid in the protection of native flora and fauna; and to encourage civic plantings.

Our Story

The Berkeley Garden Club was founded in 1932 by a group of women who met at Berkeley Evening High School in “Home Gardening and Landscaping” taught by Mr. Alison Woodman. Today we are an all-volunteer non profit corporation with 501c(3) status. We have over 90 members from Berkeley, Oakland, Piedmont, Albany and El Cerrito, men and women of all ages from 30 to 97. All are welcome! Our goals are much the same as they were in 1932. We still work together in friendship to “stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening among amateurs; to aid in the protection of native flora and fauna; and to encourage civic plantings.”
